Unlike synthetic braiding hair, human hair does not feel stiff or itchy and can be washed while the braids are in. Strands are soft but strong and do not easily tangle, so feeding them into braids is quick and clean. Many wig makers also use it to hand-tie their own wefts or ventilate lace.

Rinse braids with diluted shampoo, squeeze out water rather than rubbing, and moisturise the scalp lightly between washes.
